Vote Pending
Atlantic City, located in New Jersey, is one of the places that many people
visit every year since it is where the second largest collection of land casino
gambling venues can be found. About a year ago, however, New Jersey’s House and
Senate already agreed with the online casino operations within the state for the
formal legalization of gambling in New Jersey. This was in a response and hope
that by legalizing online casinos in the state, it will help increase the tax
revenues and somehow help the state’s flagging economy. But they cannot fully
take another step to be the first state to legalize the internet gambling
operations since it lacks the vote needed from the state’s Governor.
According to Governor Christie, if the senate thinks that through expansion of
online casinos beyond the Atlantic City is best than they should ask the voters
and let the them decide on the situation. This was not a decision based on whim
though, and for a local legislator questioned, he believes that the Governor is
concerned of the welfare of the people if wide-spread online casinos are
introduced. And in this case, the Pros will just have to work hard on persuading
the people to vote for the expansion of internet gambling in the state.
Sports betting is already very popular and this is the next question being
proposed to the Governor. If online casinos are permitted to operate and sports
betting can be started, as much as $800 million will go as tax revenues. People
in favor of the bill and gambling are hoping the Governor will reconsider since
the state of New Jersey really needs this extra boost – an economy boost and
some increases in employment will indeed bless the state.
