Three Companies Prepare
In a bid to bring the online casino and gambling industry to the United States,
several companies are already preparing themselves for the possibilities. Among
them are some land-based gambling companies, MGM Resorts International and Boyd
Gaming Corp. In the agreement they recently signed, they are intending to
partner with Bwin.Party in the case that the USA will soon legalize online
casinos, poker and other Internet gambling games. The agreement will therefore
show three companies having shares in an Internet gambling company utilizing the
software and systems of Party Poker and many Bwin.party brands.
It was in October that Jim Ryan, the co-CEO of Bwin.party, made hints that he
was on frequent business trips trying to negotiate with some gambling companies
in the US. In an interview, he said that he hopes to be back in America soon,
which his company left when UIGEA was approved in 2006. It should be noted that
Ryan’s company owns the popular World Poker Tour too. Before 2006, Party Gaming
retained 50 percent of the online casino and poker market in America. When they
left, a huge number of players and fans of the online casinos received a severe
blow.
Ryan added that right now they are bolstering the foundation they created
previously in order to prepare themselves to re-enter the US market. As for the
CEO of MGM Resorts, Jim Murren, he sees the importance of having strong laws for
internet gambling and poker, especially since several of those currently
offering their services to the American people have hurt them. With Bwin.party,
they are assured of the company’s solid reputation and history of responsible
actions. However, part of the provision in the agreement signed is for Boyd and
MGM to have its own brands of online casino poker sites.
