Anticipating New Jersey Results
After several formal and informal debates, and after several opportunities to
argue about the fate of online casinos and gambling in the United States,
especially in New Jersey, the citizens of the Garden State will finally be able
to tell the world what they want. In fact, this month they will collectively
decide the potential future of New Jersey online casino and sports betting
industry in the state. According to the recent polls that check the referendum’s
wining possibilities, it showed that it has positive prospects. If this is so,
then several politicians will have a chance to proceed with their plans to
reverse the provision in the federal law Professional and Amateur Sports
Protection Act.
Senator Ray Lesniak, who carries the torch for his constituents, is working on
introducing a law for the residents of New Jersey that will allow regulated
sports wagering only within the gambling establishments found in Atlantic City
and the racetracks all over the state. Lesniak has been active with the online
casino gambling companies and other industry establishments in New Jersey, and
his intentions include the fast tracking of a bill that will create
preliminaries for the legalization of online casinos and Internet gambling
industry in the US.
The NFL seems to oppose the very question the referendum is trying to answer,
but, the Atlantic City gambling operators and various venues are showing support
for the idea. For them, not only will there be a boost in the income and tax
revenues from online casino and sports betting, there will also be an increase
in attendance at the racetracks in New Jersey. It should be remembered that one
of Lesniak’s initiatives of almost the same purpose was vetoed by the governor
of the state early this year.
