Online Casino Advocates
The campaign for the legalization of online casino gambling is evident as more
and more advocate groups are forming. The latest is the US Online Gaming
Association (USOGA), which was announced recently during the ICEi event in
London. The group is led by Melanie Brenner, former chief of the Poker Voters of
America. To date, gambling firms have pledged financial and technical support to
the organization, among them are Sportingbet.com and PKR.com, companies with
online casinos and gambling products. According to Brenner, the aim of the group
is summarized as: “to advocate for legalization and regulation of internet
gambling in the United States”.
For a long time now, many US citizens are hopeful regarding the legislation of
online casino and gambling. But conservative legislators are leading right now
and are trying to disregard the benefits of online casinos and gambling in
America. There is, however, a positive indication that a campaign at the state
level will bring encouraging results. The Poker Voters of America’s experience
has shown that their effective campaign placed them in the halls of the state
capitols of Tallahassee, Sacramento and Trenton. A wave coming from these states
will create a domino effect in the state level once their voices are heard and
may very well result in some legalized US internet gambling markets.
This optimism resulted in an outpouring of support from large companies. PKR
chief executive, Malcolm Graham, whose company is moved by the momentum at the
state level, believes that, if there is a collective voice and consistent
efforts by those who will greatly benefit from the legislation, legalization of
online casino and gambling will finally be realized. More companies are
indicating support and more lobby groups are growing, indicating optimism for
legislation.
