Who's to Say What's Right
The online casino gambling debates in the United States right now have becoming
a huge issue between the political parties – a platform issue in some cases
even. But there is a basis to these debates that is going overlooked by a huge
number of the US politicians and that is the fact that the UIGEA and any
legislation that tells American’s what they can enjoy in their leisure time is
infringing on Constitutional rights. Only one politician is out there right now
highlighting the fact that the online casino bans several limit civil liberties
and instead actually place a pretty solid moral and religious judgement on what
activities are right and which are wrong.
The thing is, the Republican right has said that it’s ok for all of these right
wing charities and religious organizations to take all of the extra
discretionary income of US residents but yet these same residents cannot instead
choose to relax on their home personal computers and play at the online casinos.
The discrepancy is enormous and it really highlights the high level of control
that the UIGEA is placing over the personal freedoms of Americans. Why is the
UIGEA so invasive and why is online casino gambling so very different from the
land gambling industry?
These are all questions that the internet gambling industry cannot actually
answer. There are no easy solutions right now but one of the key points that
questions the Constitutionality of the gambling ban and questions the high level
of government power are very valid and something that everyone involved should
really take notice of as the debates continue. |
