Is it That Scandalous
Tokwiro Enterprises has already begun to experience some of the backlash and
criticism that is a natural result of the company making headlines for yet
another security flaw that exposes the opponent’s hole cards to the cheater.
This type of cheating several years ago was due to a major flaw in the internal
programming and allowed insiders within Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet online
casino poker sites to exploit the site’s players. Now though, the flaw is quite
a bit less severe and has not yet been exploited. The Poker Table Ratings
information portal identified the flaw in the Cereus Poker Networks security
encryption that allowed exploitation only within the same server. A flaw is a
flaw though, and Tokwiro took immediate responsibility for this new online
casino poker security situation and announced that a patch was expected within
an hour of the announcement.
This is an incredibly quick turnaround time considering Tokwiro had no warning
about the Poker Table Ratings release until it happened. There are some online
casino critics though who immediately began to bash Tokwrio for their decision
to leave the site active while the patches were in development. In fact,
criticism was blatant and immediate, but perhaps not warranted according to one
poker industry insider. B.J. Nemath is a highly respected journalist within the
online casinos and poker sites, and Nemath analyzed the situation calmly and
noted that the flaw was not as serious as the nay-sayers and extreme critics
were making it out to be.
This security flaw does not allow an online casino poker player to see the hole
card of any player in the world, but rather only players “on a
locally-accessible network” according to Nemath. This means that someone would
have to be sitting across the street and stealing your wifi connection to tap
into your network and access the weakness. Nemath’s insight is respected and
adds a nice dash of water to the fire that some angry players were trying to
start even though they did not have a full understanding of the situation. |
