Making Online Casinos Safer
One of the biggest arguments that the pro-online casino gambling enthusiasts and
companies have on their side in the debate is the fact that legalized gambling
makes the industry incredibly safer for gamblers. The US market is currently an
unregulated haven and the online casinos have become a black market of sorts
because the UIGEA makes the processing of gambling transactions between offshore
gaming sites and US gamblers illegal. The UIGEA though is terribly ineffective
and even with the enforcement regulations set to take effect there is little
doubt that internet gamblers and gambling companies will find ways to work
around the blocks – they’re finding these ways now!
A key policy in the internet gambling industry, though, is the fact that
internet gamblers have a way to voice their concerns and report problems to
authorities when the online casinos are regulated. In an unregulated market
though the gamblers take a lot more risks when choosing an internet gambling
site and risk losing all of their funds if the site is a fly-by-night operation
and shuts down payouts abruptly. US gamblers have a free-for-all right now and
there is no clear way to ensure that the online casino sites they choose will be
there, or be able to find a loophole for payouts even.
The US market is a debacle right now and clearly illustrates that there is just
no way to effectively and ethically block the online casinos from US gamblers.
The only sure way to keep internet gambling out of the US would be through ISP
censorship – an action that would expressly act against US policies of internet
freedom. |
