Poker on the Way
The Canadian online casino gambling industry is rapidly developing and shaping
up for some serious changes as several Canadian provinces prepare to legalize
and license their own mini-gambling industries. The government has failed to
regulate or really even officially address the legality of the online casinos
and so the provinces in Canada are taking it into their own hands with the
development of new protocols, new regulations and taxation structures, and
several provinces are even teaming up together to offer a larger and more
cohesive gambling market. For the real gambling fans in Canada this move will
mean a lot more options as well as a full range of internet poker.
It’s actually pretty amazing how fast these provinces have been in implementing
the planned online casino gambling regulations; it seems like only last month
that the first of the provinces announced the plan to regulate and license sites
and now there are already draft regulations in place and new policies in
development. For many of the provinces these new regulations are just a
formality that will legalize an activity that is already well established in the
market. Canadian gambling companies will actually receive a boost in the market
as Lotto Quebec and other provincial lotteries will have first dibs on launching
new sites targeted at the specific markets.
The online casinos are a hugely profitable business and the Canadian provinces
are actually taking a page out of the actions of a handful of US states that
have fully begun to implement legal internet betting and in some cases poker as
a way to fund the government’s coffers and flesh out spending concerns. |
