Hosting Outside of India
The Indian online casino gambling regulations are some of
the most unique in the world. The country does not allow internet gambling – it
is, technically illegal. The loopholes though and specifications though only
apply to online casinos that are attempting to operate from within India. The
regulations note that the anti-gambling sentiments mostly apply to sites that
are running based out of India, not for offshore and foreign gambling sites. The
distinction seems a bit out of whack from what most countries do when they are
attempting to block and stop the internet gambling sites from operating –
India’s legislation indicates that the country is mostly concerned with becoming
a hub for the gambling industry.
The country has good reason to be concerned though. With nearly a billion
citizens and the ever increasing availability of internet connections all over
the country, even in the smaller towns, the potential for abuse from the online
casinos is huge. There is a growing wealthy class in India with the disposable
income it takes to gamble through the internet and the Indian government has
really not take the steps that it will need in order to fully keep online casino
gambling under control. More intense and wide-sweeping regulations are needed to
maintain only scrupulous sites accessing the Indian market.
That being said, right now, despite any of India’s blocks and bans on online
casinos and lack of comprehensive legislation, many of the top quality brands
are already the preferred betting and gambling sites within the country. Both
Ladbrokes and Will Hill have noted that they do a fair bit of betting traffic
out of India. |
