Online Casino Learns from Mistakes
The largest criticism that Tokwiro Enterprises has received concerning the
handling of the Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker cheating scandals of several
years ago concerns the communication, or rather the sheer and utter lack of
communication. Players affected by the cheating scandals were left in the
complete dark for months as Tokwiro Enterprises worked with the Kahnawake Gaming
Commission to solve the software flaw and figure out the correct compensation
needed to players affected. And although the company was, presumably, working in
the background the entire time, it was a public relations nightmare that Tokwiro
refused to keep the online casino gambling industry updated on the situation’s
progress.
Several years has now passed and the previous scandal had nearly blown over…at
least until the Cereus Poker Network made it back into the headlines with a new
security flaw that gives hacker the ability to, once again, see an opponent’s
hole card. This software security flaw was uncovered by Poker Table Ratings and
posted on their site as a warning that all players should immediately cease
playing on the online poker sites until a fix was issued. Tokwiro learned its
lesson well from the previous scandal debacle and the company’s official blog
had a message from Tokwiro’s CEO, Paul Leggett.
Leggett’s message was clear and detailed and designed to apprise all of the
potential online casino poker players viewing the message, as well as reporters
and industry analysts of the company’s step-by-step plan for fixing the issues
that were identified by Poker Table Ratings. Within several hours Tokwiro issued
a software patch for the site that covered the issue. The company also noted
that a full encryption overhaul is planned for just one week. The communication
from Tokwiro was thorough and prompt, indicating that perhaps the company just
needed to learn the previous lesson the hard way. |
