A Black Market for France
The potential opening of the French online casino gambling market has been all
of the news lately in the industry media. A lot of the foreign gambling groups
have patiently waited over the past several years for the French government to
deliver the long-promised EU friendly gambling regulations. Those EU consistent
regulations have never arrived and instead the offshore betting companies and
online casinos have the option to legally enter the French market knowing that
the market is rigged with a preference toward the French state-owned gambling
group and that foreign gambler operators will have to pay huge taxes that might
negate any potential profit. This sad fact is pretty much a forgone conclusion
if the French government decides to continue ahead with the EU rejected gambling
regulations.
The French government is really only hurting the people of France by not
agreeing to a robust and fair online casino gambling market because there is
every likelihood that the French officials are about to create a strong black
market for gambling in France that is similar to the black market that exists in
the US right now. France plans to only accept licensed and specific online
casinos into the market – but without an ISP block in place how will the French
officials keep the other sites out?
And then there is the issue of whether France can keep the foreign online
casinos out of the market. The US is a haven for black market gambling sites –
sites that operate out of the government’s control. This type of activity is
only dangerous for the gamblers themselves because the government has no ability
to control which sites are accessing their players and players have no way to
report problems and issues. |
