Action Between Two Giants
A new chapter in the saga between Gaming VC and Boss Media has started now that
Gaming VC announced the start of official legal action against Boss. Boss Media
not only operates some of the top online casino betting products in the world
through the Boss site’s but the company also uses it’s business to business side
to license this top software to other gaming companies for use to power their
own gambling and betting sites – which is a fairly common practice in the
industry and online casinos frequently license out or white label software if
there is a market for it. Gaming VC operated two key betting properties in the
Italian market and the core of the current dispute centers on Gaming VC’s lack
of proper Italian licensing and Boss Media’s actions toward Gaming VC once the
company no longer held that Italian licensing.
The issues started primarily because Gaming VC sold one of its two Italian
facing online betting sites, Betpro, last month and once that sale was finalized
Gaming VC no longer technically held a license to operate in the Italian market.
That was a problem though because Gaming VC operated still another online casino
betting site in the Italian market that generates a significant portion of the
gambling group’s revenue. Boss Media canceled the Gaming VC software contract
and cut Gaming VC off from using the Boss Software to power Betaland, Gaming
VC’s other Italian gaming site. The bulk of the legal dispute claims that Boss
Media did not follow the steps outlined in their software contract when
canceling the online casino betting software and thoroughly damaged Gaming VC’s
business with the abrupt termination.
Although that part of the suit is clear, another aspect of the lawsuit adds a
twist on the entire situation that, if true, would mark quite a bit of
underhanded deceit out of the Boss Media that is actually not common in the
online casino gambling industry. Gaming VC claimed that once Boss Media
terminated the software contract that the company allowed Boss betting sites
access to Gaming VC’s list of Italian gamblers so that the betting site could
poach off of Gaming VC’s former clients. Boss Media has not released a statement
about the accusations because of the pending litigation. |
