Fighting the Online Casino Sites
Several nations have begun to simply surrender to the knowledge that the online
casino gambling industry is ubiquitous and there is no way to fully stop the
industry from accessing any particular market. These countries have embraced the
notion of “if you can’t bet ‘em, join ‘em” – a solid approach to the online
casinos actually. But then there are those handful of countries that refuse to
recognize the pervasive inevitability of the internet gambling industry. They
fight the industry. They put up bans, blocks, filtering software and monopolies.
A few have even instituted tough legal penalties and fines for internet gambling
activity. And none of this has really had any actual affect on the level of
internet gambling in these countries.
There is no effective way to block the online casinos, gamblers are going to
find a way to gamble via offshore sites if they’ve a mind to do it. This is the
fact that many countries have accepted and they are no benefiting from a highly
controlled market with proper safeguards for their citizens and proper tax
incentives for the government coffers. Then you have the other countries. Like
the US, which has quite unsuccessfully blocked the transactions with foreign
online casino sites. Or perhaps Australia, which is, right at this moment,
attempting to place huge content censorship and ISP filtering measures in place
– a sure infringement on internet freedoms.
These are just two countries, though! There are others. China is also attempting
content censorship…and will likely succeed because of the government’s tight
control. And not to be left out are the handful of European Union countries that
are violating EU policies just to keep monopolies in place and foreign sites out
of their markets. It’s amazing that these countries have not seen the
inevitability of internet gambling and still attempt to block and ban the
industry. |
