Frank's Support is Building
The time crunch has started and Barney Frank has a deadline looming ahead that
could seriously cause a strong setback in the progress that Frank has made with
his pro gambling legislation and bills. The enforcement regulations for the
UIGEA are set to come into full effect in less than a month now and Frank has
still not been able to get his bills to the floor of Congress for discussion,
one of which is designed to delay and stop implementation of the UIGEA
enforcement regulations. Frank already has 66 co-sponsors on the bill who have
voiced their absolute support of Frank’s proposal that would license and
regulate offshore online casinos for the US market rather than the ineffective
ban that is currently in place and wreaking havoc on the US banking and gambling
systems.
As a deadline for action barrels toward Congress, Frank announced that two new
Democratic Representatives have signed onto the bill as of last month. One of
the Congressional Representatives now supporting the internet gambling
regulations is Dina Titus of Nevada. Nevada as a whole has really only just come
on board as supporters of a US regulated online casino gambling industry which
will really lend a good deal of needed support to the efforts. Nevada holds the
core seat of land gambling in the United States and the previous fence-sitting
ambiguous support from the state was not helping Frank’s efforts overly much.
There is a lot of trepidation in the US Treasury and the US financial system
that Frank’s bills are not going to pass in time and the financial burden of
implementing the UIGEA enforcement regulations will begin to overtax the system
almost immediately as the banks are given the core weight and responsibility of
blocking the transactions between US banks and offshore online casinos. |
