Lawsuit Brewing for Italy
Stanleybet International has announced that the company was given no choice
recently but to filing a massive lawsuit against the Italian government’s
actions over the past 12 years. Stanleybet is an international land and online
casino gambling group that has a solid reputation and a history of operating
under the guidelines of the law and working with governments to develop
regulated land and internet gambling markets. The Italian government, though, is
taking a whole other stand in the situation and has steadfastly refused to
acknowledge that Stanleybet has the right to operate in the land betting market
in Italy in a bizarre adherence to incredibly old gambling policies that do not
take into account the new markets for online casinos nor the fact that Italy is
now a part of the European Union.
Stanleybet’s lawsuit is epically huge. The land and online casino betting
company has been involved in legal action with Italian government officials for
more than 12 years now and the company is asking the Italian courts to make a
ruling on the government’s actions. The lawsuit claim comes in at a staggering
Euro 1.533 billion and covers all of the lost profits (Euro 887.2 million), the
damages and costs to Stanleybet to continue fighting for the right to the
Italian market (Euro 362.2 million) as well as damages all of this massive
government action against Stanleybet has had on the company’s long-standing
reputation (Euro 254.3 million).
The case is a continuation of this 12 year battle between Stanleybet and the
Italian officials and analysts within the online casino gambling industry are
actually quite optimistic that Stanleybet has a strong chance of winning some
serious cash from the Italian government because of all of the struggles
Stanleybet has been put through despite the company’s European Union sanction
actions. |
