Reporting Breaches
The UK online casino gambling industry has been under a lot of scrutiny over the
past year because of a series of suspicious betting activities that have alarmed
lawmakers and led to the development of new investigation departments all over
Europe. The UK Gambling Commission just this month announced the launch of a new
hotline that is designed for members of the gambling industry to use and report
breaches in gambling rules. The concerns that have been brewing center on the
integrity not only of the gamblers and sporting teams, but of the online casinos
and betting operations as well.
The hotline is developed to give responsible employees a way to report any
suspicious activity that they are seeing around them without coming at fault and
risking retribution or action against them. The anonymous nature of the hotline
is the key; the Gambling Commission feels like that will establish a clearer and
more direct line of communication straight from the online casinos themselves
and into the Gambling Commission. The UK is working on developing on of the
strongest and safest internet gambling licensing and operating jurisdictions in
the world, and this is a fantastic first step for the sites.
In addition to taking the complaints and calls from online casino industry
workers, the hotline will now give the Gambling Commission a new task force and
way to watch the internet gambling industry closely from the inside. The
Gambling Commission has a lot of resources available to it, and using these to
investigate and fix specific incidences occurring in the sites themselves is
undeniably valuable. |
