Who's Vying for Italy?
Microgaming announced that the software development company is in talks with the
Italian government and Italian officials right now so that the company can make
a smooth and seamless entry into the Italian market in the coming weeks. The
Italian government has very specific regulations that currently do not allow
online casinos, but are allowing for licensed poker gambling in the country.
Microgaming operates a successful and reputable international poker network
outside of Italy, and through discussions with the Italian authorities the
company is able to fully offer licensable Italian poker. Already lining up to
license Microgaming’s poker offerings are a handful of the top gaming companies
in the European and UK market.
Ladbrokes has already entered into talks with Microgaming to license the
company’s approved and legal Italian online casino poker platform. The Italian
facing platform will be a version of the existing successful Microgaming
platform, but with key tweaks and changes to not only appease the Italian
authorities, but changes that are pointedly designed to appeal to the unique
Italian gaming culture. There are several other key operators besides Ladbrokes
that are in the negotiation phase of the process with Microgaming and will
likely also license this online poker platform.
Microgaming has made a commitment to the Italian market with this latest Poker
Network – a commitment to high quality online poker tourneys that are aimed at
Italian gamblers in particular, while also connecting this unique market to the
much larger international poker industry through Microgaming’s international
network that welcomes players from all over the world and is thus able to offer
high stakes tournament play for those interested players. |
