A Tourney for Our Vets
The celebrities and international online casino poker pros have taken on a new
cause this month as the all align their interests and raise funds for the
Paralyzed Veterans of America. This tournament took place last week and the
entirety of US pro poker industry seemed to have turned out for this major
charity poker tournament. Attending the event were top celebrities who have been
known to compete in a game or two of poker as well as poker pros that regularly
show up at the annual World Series of Poker. In fact, the host for the charity
benefit this year is Mike Sexton, a WSOP bracelet winner, as well as pro Linda
Johnson.
The event is all designed to raise money for the Paralyzed Veterans of America,
a charity organization that gives support to American veterans that were wounded
in service. Not only did the tournament raise a significant level of awareness
for the Paralyzed Veterans of America organization, but it also raises needed
money that goes into long and short term care for these seriously injured
veterans. The online casino poker gambling industry is really great at taking on
new and worth causes and rallying the industry to support and lend their poker
skills and celebrity status for the good of the charity in question.
This year, the land and online casino poker industry came out in masse to the
Grand Hyatt in Washington DC for the tourney event. In addition to celebrities
who you love to see on the big screen, and the pros you watch in the tournaments
there was a decent number of politicians at the event lending their support as
well to such a worthy cause and a fun poker event. |
