YouTube and Poker
The latest news in the world of international poker is a bit peculiar – actually
really peculiar. The speculation about Swedish player Isildur1 has really been
heating up the industry headlines, and certainly the poker table talk. The world
of professional poker playing is a small industry – all of the names are known,
even in the larger demographic of online casino poker play. What’s interesting
though is that the internet medium has allowed some players to attain a bit of
mystery in their identity – and in their game play. A new video presentation on
YouTube is a bit tongue in cheek but responds to all of the chatter in the land
and online casino poker industry about whether or not internet poker player
Isildur1 is going to out himself at Party Poker’s upcoming The Big Game show.
The video is a pretty good parody of the situation and the land and online
casino poker gambling industries have responded well to the video by giving it
more than 25,000 views in its first few days on YouTube. The parody features
some key lines that poke fun at Isildur1’s poker gaming habits. Particularly the
fact that he plays a pretty high stakes game of poker and isn’t afraid to lose
more than $4 million in a single session. Naturally that wasn’t the online
casino poker player’s intention, but his highest record to-date is losing $4.2
million to Brian Hastings in a single poker session.
More than anything, the land and online casino poker industry is quite curious
about this mysterious Swedish player who has never yet made a public appearance.
There is a big hope in the industry that Party Poker’s big event will be enough
to bring him out. |
