Thoughts on Oz's Online Casino Industry
The Australian censorship issue is really becoming quite a bit of a nuisance now
as officials start to place pretty serious restrictions on the internet content
permissible in the country. In fact, it goes far beyond the online casinos even
and identifies more to the fact that Aussies do not want the government looking
over their shoulder and telling them just precisely what they can and cannot do
on the internet. The problem with censorship is the fact that it just never ends
– the government implements ISP level blocks on the online casino industry but
then throws in any other controversial industries and even topics and images
that it deems immoral. Since when was that a good idea?
In fact, the Aussie government is not even pretending that it plans to only
block the online casinos. Senator Conroy is a big boon to free speech and
freedom of content as he actively works within the government to fully block all
content deemed “nasty.” That’s right, the Aussie government is going to set the
standards for all families in the country no matter the religion, background,
etc and tell them what they should be doing and seeing…or more specifically no
doing and seeing. The online casino industry is just the scapegoat for a much
larger planned censorship on Australian citizens.
But interestingly enough, the Aussies do not plan to quietly allow these new
censorship and online casino blocks pass through into action. Instead the
Aussies have begun wide-scale protests of the ISP block in an effort to keep the
internet an integral part of personal freedoms. |
