Robbers on the Lamb
We’re not talking about livestock here, but rather the major casino robbery last
week that rocked the entirety of the land and online gambling industry. The
heist took place during the Berlin event on the European Poker Tour and was
actually televised to the masses because of live streaming video that was
happening at the time via the internet. Enthusiastic land and online casino
gamblers were watching in horror as the event unfolded and then ended in just
minutes. Now, although all of the robbers were able to escape, one suspect from
the robbery has been apprehended – the other ones remain on the lamb.
This type of robbery never happens within the online casino poker industry for
obvious reasons, but internet poker certainly has its own faults and weaknesses
(namely the scandal created by Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker several years
ago). Within the land poker industry though, it’s also pretty rare considering
that it’s a pretty big vulnerability on major tourneys. What’s funny though, is
that all of the robbers were caught all over the video cameras and are thus
clearly identified by name – now it’s just a matter of finding these individuals
so that they can face the repercussions of their actions.
Although one suspect has caught, some of the assumed leaders of the group have
gotten away and there are now international arrest warrants in place. The online
casino and land gambling industry remains rapt with attention on observing how
all of this unfolds over the coming weeks and months. |
