Poker Play Gets Heated
The world of high stakes poker action can be slow and methodical, or
surprisingly fast paced – the latest hands of poker played between Dwan and
Antonius were the latter, rapid, costly, and incredibly exciting for poker
enthusiasts to watch. Dwan issued out a challenge last year that was a pretty
sweet deal for any land and online casino poker player who felt that he could
take on Dwan and win the nearly $2 million pot…the only catch was that the
challenging player agreed to a whopping 50,000 hands of poker play before the
winner was decided. Antonius took on the challenge and Dwan and Antonius have
now played more than 33,000 of the online casino poker hands that the challenge
requires.
All of the game play has taken place via the online casino poker sites and they
meet up several times a month for marathon poker sessions. The latest session
though really surprised poker enthusiasts watching the game – it was over in
just nine minutes and an amazing $230,000 changed hands. Although Antonius held
a strong lead at the beginning of the challenge, the tables have turned more
recently and Dwan has seriously pulled ahead against his competitor. Antonius’s
loss of the $230,000 was the most significant money change in the game so far –
the pot got high incredibly fast and then Antonius lost several major pots in a
row when all was said and done.
The online casino poker game play is a third of the way through and Antonius is
going to need a pretty big shift in his winnings from Dwan if he hopes to recoup
the $500,000 that he put up in the challenge and also to walk away with the $2
million prize pool. If Dwan wins he gets to keep Antonius’ buyin and will also
gain a bit of legendary status in the industry since his claims of going
undefeated in long term poker play come to fruition. |
