A Thanks for Evangelical Christians
Now, it might be a bit controversial to attribute the lack of online casino
gambling regulations in the US to the lobbying power of the Evangelical
Christians, but that is actually just about precisely one of the key reasons
that the new gambling regulations that would repeal the UIGEA have still not
passed into law. The online casinos have a lot of powerful support in the US
Congress…but it just isn’t enough to counteract the lobbying dollars and efforts
of the religious right. There is a lot of money being thrown at the internet
gambling industry right now, on both sides of the debate, and so far, the
detractors of a legalized internet gambling industry are winning.
There’s just one key problem with this scenario though, the Evangelical
religious groups are not issuing forth valid claims as they attempt to block the
internet gambling industry – it’s actually all misinformation and false claims.
The “facts” and information supplied by the fundamentalists on the right has
been debunked and proven false by research centers all over the world. Chad
Hills, a vocal representative for Focus on the Family, claims that online
casinos are “the most dangerous, most invasive form of gambling ever developed.”
But yet the facts just don’t hold this to be true accord to the Harvard Medical
School.
The biggest issue though is the fact that this Evangelical right has a lot of
lobbying money to through into the fray and their efforts, false claims, and mis-education
of Congressional representatives can be directly linked to why new bills to
legalize and license the online casinos have still not passed into law. |
