Two New Co-Sponsors
The movement to legalize online casinos in the United States is gaining momentum
this month as several key initiatives are building support within Congress and
there is a lot more hope and expectations that it’s even possible to legalize
internet gambling. Because of the bipartisan debates surrounding the online
casino debate and whether it should remain blocked or rather have full
regulation and licensing, any and all efforts to repeal the UIGEA have been
foiled and delayed. But the movement is still chugging forward and actually
gaining a bit of steam into the new year now as two new politicians voice their
support and lend their names to Barney Frank’s gambling legislation.
From the fair state of Missouri Congressional Representatives William Lacy Clay
and Russ Carnahan signed onto Frank’s bill as co-sponsors. The IGREA legislation
that Clay and Carnahan now signed would give the online casino gambling industry
and related sectors of the market full federal licensing to operate in the US
market at the discretion of the individual US states. The Missouri
representatives are mostly supporting the bill because of a desire to expand
internet sports betting within the state, and because of current restrictions,
Frank’s IGREA legislation would facilitate the state’s desire for a more open
and evenly controlled online casino gambling market.
Clay and Carnahan are both full supporters of the growing movement to fully stop
the UIGEA and all of its implications for the international online casinos and
instead created a safe and federally controlled gambling market for offshore and
domestic gaming sites vying for operation in the US market. |
