The US Online Casino Block
The efforts to stop the US online casino gambling industry are backed some major
heavy hitters in the US gambling industry as surprising as that may sound. It’s
pretty flabbergasting to note that the land gambling venues are putting up such
a fuss against the internet gambling industry. There is some fantastic room for
cross-promotional development between the two industries, but yet the US online
casinos are unwilling to see that the internet gambling industry is an
inevitability. Even if the UIGEA is successful today in blocking offshore gaming
sites (which it isn’t) this is merely a short term fix, not a long term
solution.
The online casinos are a stable part of the way that global gamblers operate –
they like the convenience of the game and have actually shown that they are
willing to openly defy US sentiments by circumventing the UIGEA and continuing
to process transactions with foreign gambling companies. The UIGEA was a pretty
sneaky piece of legislation to start with and those following the case have been
mystified how the conservatives have managed to keep such a tight control over
the UIGEA and avoid a repeal.
In fact, it’s the very combination of right wing lobbyists and Nevada gaming
officials that have promptly stopped any progress from occurring on the UIGEA.
The Nevada governors are put in a hard place, serve the best interests of the
state gamblers, are pander to the huge American Gaming Association which has
remained mostly ambivalent but, if anything against, action toward the suspect
in the cases. |
