California Out of Running

The US state of California has long been considering a move into the online casino poker gambling industry within the state lines as a way to flesh out the state budget. Unfortunately those plans have been creating a lot of controversy at the political level because there are a handful of politicians, as well as the Indian tribes, that are not pleased with the possibility of legalized internet gambling. California is suffering from some pretty serious and severe budget shortages right now and the politicians and online casino poker supporters were using the problems right now as an opportunity to more easily push through the issue into law.

The native tribes in California though have a lot of control over the state land gambling industry because of tribal compacts that allow the tribes to operate some of the only major land casinos in the state. When all of the plans for online poker were broached within the state many of the Indian tribes immediately examined the issue and took the defensive stance against legalized intrastate internet poker. The online casino poker gambling bill was put before the California Senate just this month before the bill proposers were forced to withdrawal the bill and admit that it still needed some more work before it would be fully ready to legislatively handle the California gambling situation.

The California tribes are protecting their current interests by objecting to the current plan to legalize online casinos and poker gambling out of the state. The current bill would allow the state to partner up with the land gambling interests in Las Vegas to launch some of the internet gaming content and that idea is less than ideal for the Cali tribes that currently get a full share of the gaming market.
