What Do Offshore Online Casinos Think
The offshore online casino gambling industry is prepping for entry into the US
market even though the US Congress has not yet passed any new regulations to
indicate that any of the proposed bills will actually pass into law. But there
is a strong movement in the US toward legalized and licensed gambling because of
the presence of the industry anyways. Also, the controversial UIGEA pushed the
offshore online casinos out of the market and the only consolation at the time
was that US companies could not offer internet gambling services either. But now
with the US states beginning to license and legalize sectors of the domestic
gambling industry the offshore gambling sites are watching closely.
As a part of the foreign trade policies the US doesn't exactly have to allow
offshore online casinos into the market if the domestic market is banned as
well. As long as the market was not protected via protectionist policies there
was little enforcement that could be done; the gambling sites accepted that the
US market was closed for now and that new legislation and bills were in the
process. But domestic gambling companies will have exclusive abilities to
license within their states and offshore online casino sites are left out in the
cold with no way to actually enter the market. So although the individual US
states are really pushing for this type of exclusivity there is little
likelihood that it will occur at the federal level.
That's the tricky part of the situation, that the US government has to appease
the offshore online casinos as well as build a regulated market that works for
both of the US' key parties, the Republicans and the Democrats. The issue has a
lot of layers and there are a whole lot of different industries and parties
involved in the process which is part of why it has taken quite so long to
affect change. |
