Jobs and Revenue
Talking to politicians in the United States it has become very obvious that the
online casino gambling industry cannot be mentioned without the image of dollar
signs trailing the thought. The internet gambling industry is potentially very
lucrative when it is licensed and properly regulated and this is the chief
reason that both the federal government has gotten involved as well as several
US governments. In fact, although there are dozens of valid reasons to support
the regulation and legalization of online casinos in the US the most talked
about and effective debates include the potential revenue and jobs that are
created by a full and robust licensed industry.
It works on all levels of the government as well. The argument is working within
the federal government right now as Congressmen Barney Frank and Jim McDermott
attempt to pass through some new legislation with the argument that these new
bills would create a lot of job opportunities in the US as well as fund needed
programs within the federal government. The deficit is at an all time high and
new programs that can generate a lot of revenue are always being considered. At
the state level this is true as well – as long as the UIGEA ban on offshore
online casinos stays in place the US states have the opportunity to reap
revenues from a taxed and regulated market.
The job creation and need for new revenues really speak to the current state of
the US post-recession (or rather almost post recession) and are a solid way for
politicians to gain support for bills that seek to regulate and license online
casinos. |
