Jobs Either Way
Legalizing online casinos in the United States market has a lot of pros and cons
and one of the strongest pro arguments has been for the creation of so many new
jobs in the US. The US is one of the handful of international companies still in
the dregs of a recession and the US economy is really taking quite a bit of time
to recover. Pro-gambling enthusiasts have argued that rapid action on repealing
the UIGEA and passing the legislation needed to regulate and license the online
casinos will not only generate billions over the next decade for the US
government in terms of tax revenues going into the budget, but a fully legalized
US market will also stimulate thousands of new jobs. Additionally, even though
the US federal government is taking its time passing new regulations, state
level legalization of online casino gambling is also set to create thousands of
new jobs.
New Jersey is on the cusp of passing new gambling regulations that would allow
for a full intrastate online casino gambling industry. These new regulations and
the expansion of the state into internet gambling will create an estimated 1,500
new jobs in the state dealing with the technology that will be needed to create
all of these new gaming sites. These new jobs are so badly needed within New
Jersey right now and the 1,500 tech jobs only represent a sample of the new
positions that will open up as intrastate gambling really takes off.
The new jobs within New Jersey are just a small indication of the stimulation
that will take place with legalized online casino gambling because regulation
and legalization at the federal level will mean a much larger scale of new jobs
than is even remotely possible should each state make their own choices
regarding internet gambling. |
