China Busting Gambling Rings
The Chinese government was certainly not kidding earlier in the year when they
announced plans to fully begin nationwide efforts to prevent, block, and stop
online casino gambling and betting in the country. China is one of the most
concerned nations in the world about the internet gambling situation and has
created incredibly controversial situations over the past more than a year with
attempts to censor and block internet gambling through filters as well as
excessively harsh punishments from the government for Chinese citizens found
circumventing the blocks and offering illegal online casinos and betting
opportunities in the country. The latest news out of China is centered on the
massive gambling ring bust that has but a huge damper on the internet betting
scene.
Chinese police and government officials were pleased to announced that the
gambling ring bust marks an important step for the country in eliminating
illegal online casino betting. The raided gambling ring was located out of the
Jiangsu Province in China and officials conservatively estimate that it serviced
more than 22,000 online bettors from all over China. And in a bold move that
will alter the entire face of the Chinese internet casino betting industry, the
police have turned over the identity of all 22,000 Chinese citizens who were
using the betting ring to place illegal bets.
Follow up action is planned by the Ministry of Public Security and yet the
extent to this follow up action is unknown. Up until now Chinese officials have
really focused the thrust of their anti-online casino betting action on the
gambling rings themselves – owners, organizers and those running the ring; going
after the actual Chinese citizens will be a marked change for the Chinese
officials and a potent next step in the crack-down efforts. |
