Trend's Misinformation
The Trend magazine released in Austria laid out a claim last week that has
proven questionable according to more information given from the companies
involved. Trend reported that the ongoing talks between two of the industry’s
largest gambling groups, Party Gaming and Bwin Interactive came to an end and
the online casino gambling groups are no longer in talks. An update released
just this week, however, indicates that Trend might have misquoted Hannes
Androsch, Bwin’s largest shareholder by just a couple very key and important
words that really change the entire meaning of the sentence. Trend claims that
based on Androsch’s quote, “In the end, talks have not led to the desired
outcome” the two online casino gambling groups have parted ways.
Bwin though came out with an immediate response noting that Androsch was
misquoted and the entire meaning was opposite of what Androsch intended. Bwin
Interactive’s statement about the Trend quote notes that the proper quote should
have read “It is true, that up until now, talks have not lead to any specific
outcome.” This phrasing of the sentence gives an entirely different meaning to
the talks between the two companies – indicating showing that Androsch was not
willing to give away any inkling of the situation’s actual status.
At this point, although Bwin issued a statement noting that the talks have not
ended between the two online casino gambling giants Bwin did not give away any
additional details concerning the status of the talks or what project/merger the
two companies are considering by the ongoing negotiations and discussions. |
