New Report a Stark Contrast
The Australian online casino gambling industry is one of those hot topics right
now ripe with controversy and full of debate. There have been numerous reports
throughout this year that indicated that the current Aussie Prime Minister is
strictly against the internet gambling sites and that she plans to filter out
the illegal gaming sites as a way to block online casinos from the country. A
new report though indicates that some of the Aussie states are actually relaxing
their attitude toward the internet gambling industry and will be increasingly
willing to open their borders to legalized offshore gambling in the coming
years. KPMG is a global service network with offices and influence in more than
140 countries all over the world – and KPMG has several offices in Australia.
KPMG reported that as the government commissioned reports about the online
casino gambling industry continue to confirm that Australians are eager for
chance based and slots games that many of the current betting and land gambling
companies will embrace the new technology. The KPMG indicated that Australians
are spending more than $790 million on offshore online casinos – money that is
not only leaving the state, but the entire country. The Aussie market has the
opportunity to follow suite with the rest of the world and create a taxed and
regulated market with safe and controlled gambling opportunities for the
gambling public.
Although the current controversy concerning the Prime Minister’s plans to block
online casinos at the ISP level are a valid concern for internet privacy and
freedom laws, there is little doubt that Aussies will continue to circumvent the
blocks and spend their gambling money at these offshore and untaxed gaming
sites. |
