Online Casinos Moving Into SEA
The online casino gambling market in Asia is really starting to heat up right
now and the far-off operators are potentially losing out on business to the
companies a little closer to home. The Cambodian market is just beginning to
open if the announcement of a partnership between the PhilWeb Corporation and 5P
Corporation based out of Cambodia is any indication. Southeast Asia has had a
mixed past with the internet gambling industry and certain countries are still
blocking and banning the online casinos while others are looking toward
regulation and tighter legalization controls as a better solution to the
situation. The new Cambodian partnership marks a first for the Cambodian market
and will give PhilWeb a clear foundational lead in this market.
PhilWeb is based out of the Philippines and develops online casino technologies
for the region. The 5P Corporation on the other hand is very new to the internet
gambling industry and the principal shareholder in 5P, Hun Sun Ny, is actually
the sister of Hun Sen, the current Prime Minister of Cambodia. Ny’s relationship
and proximity to the Prime Minister gives credibility to the assumption that the
Cambodian market is now prepared to enter the online casino gambling industry.
The deal between the two companies has been finalized already and PhilWeb will
work with 5P to develop and release mobile and online casino games into the
Cambodian market. Cambodia has a incredibly large potential market and PhilWeb
plans to use this newly launching gaming industry as a platform to launch into
nearby countries. |
