Positioning for Polish Market
The Polish online casino gambling market is on the cusp of some major changes
right now because of warnings from the European Commission that the drafted
Polish online casino and land gambling regulations are not compliant with EU
policies. The Polish government is attempting to put up some strong blocks for
foreign internet gambling sites but as an EU member-state the country is forced
to consider the policies dictating an open market between EU countries, and the
Commission has said that this applies to the online casinos as well as
traditional trade. So as the Polish government hammers out the new regulations
with an eye toward EU compliance the GTech G2 gambling group is looking at the
latest deal with the Polish lottery as the perfect foundational base for future
expansion into the Polish market.
The GTech Corporation was chosen by Totalizator Sportowy Sp. to develop and
provide the Polish lottery Corporation with the technology and services needed
to run the state lottery. The contract is a major one and GTech scored a major
coup with a contract lasting seven years with possible extensions up to ten
years if both parties choose to continue working together. One of the biggest
pluses for GTech though is the fact that the G2 online casino gambling
subsidiary will have a natural base within the Polish market should the
government decide that regulation and licensing is the way to go.
GTech offers full service solutions within the online casino and lottery
gambling markets and this is a case where the internet technologies that monitor
the backend data for the state lottery system are just precisely what
Totalizator was looking for and GTech has that software fully customizable and
compatible with a wide-scale Polish lottery industry. |
