Mobile Online Casinos a New Focus
The Tokyo police announced earlier this year plans to seriously crack down on
the levels of illegal mobile and online casino gambling taking place in the
country. Over the past several months the Japanese officials have taken down
several high profile betting and gambling rings and this week the Tokyo
Metropolitan Police Department claim that they have taken down one of the
largest mobile betting rings in the country.
The latest raid arrested an online casino gambling site operator who was running
a mobile platform that brought in more than 130 million yen according to the
Japanese police. As a part of the raids the police announced that the head of
the gambling ring, Tomoyuki Miyamoto was arrested along with two other Japanese
suspects who are allegedly involved in the payment processing side of the
illegal gambling ring. Japan, like China, has begun to seriously come down on
illegal online casinos that are defying national regulations and bans by
offering this form of gambling.
A key problem facing the Japanese police right now is whether or not the
customers of this illegal online casino gambling ring should also face arrest
and sentences for their participation in the illegal activity. Nine customers
have been implicated in the situation but there has been no word yet on
potential action that may come from the police officials. More crackdowns on
other suspected gambling rings are anticipated throughout the rest of the year
as the Japanese police departments investigate and track the illegal gambling
activity. |
