Malaysian Online Casinos
The Malaysian government has a very tough policy in place against both the land
and online casino gambling industry and yet there is a pending court case from
an alleged Malaysian gambler who claims he is owned damages for non-payment. The
online casinos in Malaysia are tightly controlled as are advertisements for
these gambling companies and yet Chuah Yan Keng has announced a lawsuit has been
filed against both the newspaper that printed the gambling company advertisement
and the gambling company itself. Keng claims that he deposited and won money
from the gambling company and then the online gambling company refused to payout
his winnings from the site.
The situation all goes back to an advertisement placed in a local newspaper for
online casino gambling services through the gambling company in question. Keng
saw the advertisement and contacted the advertised gambling company to find out
how to engage in internet gambling activities. The process was not at all
straight forward – Keng claims the gave the company RM150,000 right into their
bank account and then was credited this money to spend at the online casino.
Keng actually then took that RM150,000 and turned it into a more than RM 261,200
win.
That’s where the situation begins to deteriorate – the online casino has never
paid out his winnings and Keng decided to take the situation to the government
seeking out damages and costs associate to the lawsuit. Illegal gambling has
tough penalties in Malaysia and Keng’s lawsuit alleges that the gambling company
in question does not have a license or legal ability to operate in Malaysia. |
