European Online Casino Landscape
The World Cup games may be over but the work of analyzing the odds offered on
the matches is just getting underway. Right2Bet is a UK gambling interest group
that strongly supports efforts and actions that create a level playing field in
the US for land and online casino gambling. The European Commission has spent
several years now asking EU member-state monopolies to open up their borders and
regulations to foreign competition. There are still nearly a dozen EU states
that have simply refused and they continue to operate state run monopolies while
blocking all online casinos licensed and operating out of other legal
jurisdictions in the EU. Right2Bet’s current actions are designed to analyze the
bets that state monopolies offered on the World Cup games versus those offered
by the open and competing companies.
Right2Bet claims that the state monopolies are offering online casino bettors
and gamblers inferior value in their gambling operations because there is no
competition and the state is interested in bringing in profits that will enter
the state coffers. Right2Bet has spent the last month monitoring the World Cup
games and will now analyze the data to compile the exact discrepancies and
differences between the odds and offerings at monopolies versus other companies.
The report is specifically compiling the information to indicate what
information and online casino experience was legally available to the gamblers
within a country – that is not to say that these bans have been entirely
effective, but there are national blocks in place in many European countries.
Right2Bet anticipates that the report will succinctly show the vast
discrepancies between what online casino gamblers are offered by monopolies and
international online casino betting sites and perhaps better highlight the fact
that changes are needed within Europe right now. |
