Parting Ways Friends
Two major online casino gambling groups were in talks throughout this year about
joining forces and partnering up to offer co-branded products through a
potential merger. The precise nature of the talks has, in fact, never been fully
released to the public but speculation was high that both Bwin and Party Gaming
were considering a merger that would have changed the face of the competitive
internet gambling industry. These talks just fell apart according to a
shareholder for the Bwin gambling group, Hannes Androsch. Both companies were
looking at potential expansion throughout emerging industries and how their
joint specialties could compliment to create a greater influence in the newer
markets.
With the confirmation that these two online casinos are no longer in talks Bwin
is likely actively seeking a partnership opportunity for the potentially opening
US market. Although US Congressional talks have progressed slowly in the past
several months the online casino companies are highly hopeful that there will be
positive developments in this regard. Both of these major gambling groups are
publicly listed and leaders in their respective fields so they each have amble
opportunities outside of these previous talks.
Trend Magazine ran the story that these two companies are no longer seeing out
partnership opportunities, Androsch noted that "In the end, talks have not led
to the desired outcome.” Trend also had its own speculation in the piece about
potential US facing companies and interests that may spur interest from Bwin
Interactive in the coming weeks and months. |
