The Economist Supports Legalized Gambling
A major UK news publication, “The Economist” has officially announced major
support for the legalized internet poker and gambling all over the world. The
Economist is massively respected not only in the UK, but in the US and other
markets as a leading news source with highly varied and well considered
opinions. The Economist took a look a the current landscape of online casinos
and internet gambling in the global market, but then also goes back into history
to provide examples of when prohibition, bans and blocks has never worked in the
past. The article clearly points out many of the fragmented arguments that
others have brought to the debate in the past but clearly constructs the idea
into a persuasive piece looking at the benefits that com from regulated internet
gambling.
A huge part of the Economist’s piece actually looked at the current restrictions
in the US market compared to the betting and online casino gambling levels that
are still prevalent in the country even after the government attempted to put
the financial payment blocks in place. Although the foreign online casinos
mostly left the US market The Economist article points out that there has been
little actual impact on the rates of internet gambling in the country –
prohibition of internet gambling simply does not work well and the base reason
is that the internet is there for everyone to use.
No matter what regulations are put forth by the US, Australia, China, or other
countries the fact that there is an internet access within these countries means
that gamblers will still seek out and find online casinos regardless of their
legality – there are always going to be opportunities no matter how tight the
restrictions. |
