Philippines Mobile Gambling Concern
The Filipino government has some very strong restrictions and regulations in
place as a way to prevent and stop the spread of the online casinos into the
Philippines and to also control the scope of land gambling in the country. To
combat the internet gambling problem that has cropped up in other countries the
Philippine’s government approved land gambling centers around the country
through PAGCOR, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation. And though
PAGCOR powered land gambling venues has proven successful in creating a
controlled gambling atmosphere in the county a new form of mobile gambling has
cropped up and it is not necessarily the mobile online casino industry.
PAGCOR announced that an unknown number of the licensed PAGCOR operators are
running online casinos out of vans – actual automobiles that pick up players and
drive around to facilitate gambling in areas that might be out of reach for some
of the approved PAGCOR facilities. The vans run a range of popular PAGCOR online
casino e-games out of the mobile vans and players are able to enjoy video
blackjack and poker, along with internet slots and even baccarat. The main issue
with the situation is that PAGCOR claims that the gambling licenses are only
issued for operators who are running land and online gambling out of one
specific location – moving and mobile vans are not an approved part of the
licensing situation.
PAGCOR is currently investigating the situation and plans to put a strong stop
to this unique form of mobile online casino gambling that is taking up alarming
popularity throughout the Philippines. |
