Poker Tour Through North America
It’s hard to believe that there are still firsts in the well-established land
poker gambling industry, but that is certainly the case. PokerStars, one of the
leading international online casino poker gambling groups, has announced the
sponsorship of the upcoming North American Poker Tour (NAPT). Although North
America is home to the largest land poker tournament in the world, the World
Series of Poker, this upcoming poker tour will be the first of its kind in the
North American market. What’s particularly interesting is the fact that
PokerStars is sponsoring the event even though the prominent poker site does not
accept US gamblers because of the US’s ban on offshore online casinos.
This ban may stop many online casinos and poker sites from operating within the
North American market, but it has not stopped PokerStars from fully supporting
the upcoming tour. These types of tours are incredibly popular in the
international markets because they entice local players to come out to the
events and test their skills against a wide range of international players.
There are Asian Poker Tours, European Poker Tours, and even Poker Tours of Latin
America, but North America is like a last frontier for many of these companies
and internet poker players. The PokerStars sponsored event may also go a long
way toward repairing some of the damage that the online casino gambling ban did
to foreign relations.
The NAPT will, naturally tour around North America with stops planned in the
Bahamas, Las Vegas, Canada, and other locations that are likely to not only pull
a lot of online casino poker enthusiasts coming out to support the event, but
many poker pros from the industry are likely to attend these inaugural events.
The full tour schedule is available of the tour site and PokerStars is also
already offering up prize packages to certain events on the tour. |
