Thai Online Casinos and Lottery
Litigation is in store for the Thailand online casino gambling and lottery
market thanks to new changes within the Thai government on gambling policies in
the country. It’s certainly not new news that the Asian governments have an
intolerance and shaky attitude toward any form of the internet gambling
industry, and the Thai government and officials have noted that they are
actually supporting a move to the internet arena for the state lottery in
particular. But there isn’t, what you’d call, overwhelming support for this move
into the internet gambling industry – perhaps because of a fear that this will
lead to a full scale online casino gambling industry?
The chief problem facing the Thailand online lottery project is the fact that
there is friction within the government – the fractured support and distaste for
the project is likely the whole of the reason that it has still not passed
through the steps it needs to fully take effect and find support throughout the
country. One of the chief reasons that the online casino lottery project likely
passed in the first place was because of the potential money that this can bring
into the Thai government. Thailand is not unfazed by the global economy, and
regardless, just about every international government is pondered the lucrative
nature of internet gambling.
As the current online casino lottery market is pushed out of Thailand, the
lottery personnel are not likely to take this development without a fight, hence
the rumors of pending litigation. If internet lotteries are nixed there is a
very strong likelihood that the lottery companies are going to make this a long
and drawn out battle. |
