Online Casino Bill Questioned
The French online casino gambling industry is one of those mythical things that
seems to fluctuate like the tides. At one moment the French government touts the
necessity to open up the market and allow for foreign competition, but then on
the flip side, the new French regulations continually stall in the government
and are taking much longer than anticipated to pass through into law. In
addition to the lengthy process of approval for these new French regulations
that will allow foreign online casinos to compete in the market, the foreign
gambling companies are concerned with that even the new regulations will not be
implemented in the spirit of free trade.
The French government seems to support a new internet poker gambling venture
that will create an enormous gambling entity in the French market before foreign
competition is even allowed into the market. For a year now the European
Commission, the Remote Gambling Association, and the European Gambling and
Betting Association have closely watched the development of French regulations
for a sign that they will comply with EU policies regarding free trade between
EU member-states. Foreign online casinos feel like the French market is still
going to be disproportionately restrictive for the foreign gambling companies
more so than state monopolies and gambling sites.
These concerns are likely justified considering the number of revisions to the
French online casino gambling regulations. They seem to be repeatedly stalled in
the government and every time the foreign gambling companies feel like they have
a chance – there are more revisions that make the regulations increasingly
restrictive. |
