Online Casino Pressure Not from EU
The online casino gambling industry in Switzerland is in for some very major
changes this year and, unlike other nations, it’s not because of negotiations
and pressure from the European Commission. Switzerland is not a part of the EU
and as such does not have to adhere to the free trade policies that many EU
member states are being called out on in the past two years. Switzerland has the
right to block foreign online casinos from operating in the market, but like any
other European country, actually enforcing those blocks has become a tedious
exercise in exactly what isn’t working. To rectify the situation the Swiss
government announced that new regulations are in development right now that are
aimed at bringing a more inclusive and controlled gambling market to the
country.
The Swiss officials have watched as the gambling bans went from mildly
ineffective to wholly absurd – there are really no cohesive ways that nations
can block the online casino gambling industry without severely infringing on the
personal freedoms that are inherent in the Western world. With that in mind, the
Swiss government announced plans to create more scaleable regulations that
outline specifics for each major aspect of the gambling industry – and that
includes the online casinos! In addition, poker, betting, bingo, and mobile
gambling will all also be addressed in the country’s new, more liberalized
gambling laws.
As the Swiss government examines the existing laws and drafts new regulations,
the foreign European online casinos are really stepping up their game and
gearing up for this lucrative and primed gambling market. |
