Predictions 2010: South America Edition
The online casino gambling industry isn’t going to go very far into the South
American market over this next year because of continued efforts from several
key South American governments to keep a protectionist market in place. There
are no online casinos solely focused on this market, but betting at local
companies is quite popular. This betting market has some very real potential
should foreign gambling companies have the right to enter the market legally and
begin enticing South American gamblers to take part in the international sports
betting industries. South Americans a great fans of the game of soccer, and
sports betting is incredibly viable on the continent, if only the foreign online
gambling sites had more of a landing ground from which to operate.
There is not a lot of hope that the foreign online casinos and gambling groups
will find that footing this year – it could be a much longer wait for these
gambling companies before South America fully opens to foreign gambling. 2010
though, while shaping up nicely for the rest of the international online casino
gambling market is not going to be huge in South America. For those companies
really hoping to gain entry into the market however, keep an eye out on
Argentina in the coming months.
The gambling issued has really struck a cord there and the national and more
local governments are examining the issue and could (possible) alter the
regulatory bans before the end of the year. Additionally, South America’s
proximity to the United States has been a key factor for many international
companies so there is the thought that South America will become more viable
once the US market fully opens. |
