The Rank Group has made industry headlines this week because the gambling group announced that the growth in nearly every sector of the company is up and continuing to climb in the New Year. The positive performance at the end of 2009 has carried over and investors and other industry online casinos and gambling groups are showing their increased belief in the longevity of the Rank Group through a surge in stock values in the first several weeks of the year. Positive news is always well received, but for Rank, the land and online gambling group had some touch and go moments over the past several years that took into question the gambling group’s ability to stay profitable in both the land and internet gambling industries.

One of the most surprising aspects of the gambling group’s stellar performance at the end of 2009 comes from the fact that it’s the land casino division that is most responsible for the strong growth. Although several online gambling divisions have also done well, land gambling is slowly recovering in the UK from the smoking ban over several years ago. Gaming sales at Rank increased a significant three percent for the entire year. The Rank Group offers a huge variety of gaming opportunities with the land and online casinos representing the largest divisions within the company.

In addition to the online casinos though, Rank’s bingo and poker division performed quite well. The only slightly disappointing performance for the gambling group came out of the sports betting division – this division did not show the strong growth increase, but still didn’t do too terribly.
