Online Casinos Already Doing Their Part
The online casino and sports betting industry has been under attack in the past
several months because of claims that the internet betting industries in
particular are contributing to the increasingly high levels of corruption in the
teams and sporting industry. Sports companies and governments have begun to
accuse the online casinos and sports betting sites of contributing to the
problem and coming under particular attack and scrutiny are the sponsorship
deals that many of the betting companies have in place with sporting teams. The
Remote Gambling Association (RGA) though, recently released a report on the
level of funding that the betting companies already provide to the sporting
teams.
There has been a huge push as of late to force the online casinos and internet
betting companies to pay additional fees and taxes to the sporting regulatory
bodies so that they can better ensure that corruption and illegal activities are
not taking place in conjunction with the sporting events. The RGA has a very
different perspective on the situation and the Association’s report notes that
sponsorship deals and other forms of advertising within various European
countries already contribute a very significant $4.75 billion annually in funds
to the sporting teams and the industry.
For that reason, the RGA feels that the online casinos and betting companies are
already doing their part to support the sporting industry and that the
corruption has actually been quite over blown recently. The lower levels of
corruption than reported combined with companies already supporting the sports
teams are the two key reasons the RGA feels that any additional taxes placed on
the gambling industry is unfair and unnecessary. |
