Online Casinos Changing Over System
The payment processing industry has changed significantly in the United States
in the past three years, and the changes are still occurring as the federal
government alters its methods of punishment for companies caught facilitating
illegal online casino gambling. MasterCard announced the newest change as the
company completely backed out of the industry once again. Several of the US
facing online casinos were using MasterCard as a primary deposit option for US
customers; that is no longer viable and many US players are scrambling to find
the other payment processing companies that will reliably process their money to
and from their gambling accounts.
US facing foreign online casinos are left once again hoping that the bans and
blocks will not take place to the full extent that they can no longer accept US
players. MasterCard’s latest move though is a game changer because the credit
card processing company has managed to effectively classify all of the
transactions coming out of illegally operating online casinos – and with these
sites properly classified the company can now deny debit and credit card
transactions deemed illegal.
Visa has not yet properly coded its transactions and online casinos are still
able to process transactions through the credit card company – at least until
Visa manages to learn from the MasterCard system and similarly block gambling
transactions. The UIGEA regulations are set to once again come into full effect,
this time on June 1, 2010. This is the primary reason that MasterCard has
focused so intently on effectively coding the transactions and blocking
“illegal” online gaming sites. |
