Another US State Pushing for Legalization
The Missouri State government has joined the movement and attempts to legalize
forms of betting and online casino gambling in the United States. Several US
states are bucking the trend and the blocks that the US government has placed on
offshore gambling and even types of sports betting within the US market. The
bans are highly controversial as it is, but the US states have figured out that
intra-state forms of online casinos and betting sites are actually legal as long
as the gambling does not pass state lines. The Federal legislation only really
applies to the US as a whole, but individual US states, like Missouri, feel like
they should have the right to offer any form of betting and gambling they choose
– in this case the state is joining efforts to legalize sports betting in
particular.
Representatives for the state of Missouri are now working in Congress to openly
promote a bill that would give all US states a fair shot at offering types of
land and online casino sports betting rather than the current strong
restrictions. The bill, the Federal Professional and Amateur Sports Promotion
Act (PASPA), has been in development for a bit of time now and is finally ready
for some aggressive pushes. Sports wagering is just standards offering in most
developed nations – and it’s happening in the US market no matter what
prohibitions exist for the online casinos and betting companies.
The PASPA bill has a fair amount of support and the backing by two Missouri
Representatives, Mike Colona and Jason Grill, are just two more pieces to what
the will be needed to fully pass new legislation and redefine the way that
online casinos and betting sites are treated in the US market. In addition to
Missouri, Iowa and New Jersey are pushing hard to lift the current US
legislation that gives only a handful of special sports betting exemptions in
the country. |
