UK Gambling Perceptions
The online casino gambling industry gets a bad rap all over the world, but the
UK Gambling Commission is more interested in the facts and stats of a situation
rather than the rumors and assumptions. As far as that is concerned, the UK
Commission just released the results of the last commission study that looked
into gambling habits in the UK throughout 2009. Included in the study were
really all types of gambling from remote gambling at online casinos, mobile
sites, and interactive TV mediums as well as all of the varying types of land
betting and gambling including lottery, land venues, and betting.
Although the study did not uncover any startling results in terms of numbers and
stats coming in outside of the expected, researchers were able to confirm that
the National Lottery is still the most popular form of gambling in the country.
That’s a pretty interesting stat considering the big increases that have taken
place lately in online casino gambling – this particular sector of the industry
gets a ton of attention, both negative and positive, which is really unique
since it’s not even the largest sector of the industry.
Seven thousand UK citizens were interviewed for the study and they overwhelming
indicated that in addition to the National Lottery, they regularly play
scratchcards and other forms of the lottery. Slots were up in the top favourite
games played after the lottery was taken into consideration. The study also
looked at gender and age demographics in relation to internet gambling activity. |
